Wales' hero on Saturday, Sam Vokes, proves that England should have no qualms about squad depth.
The Wolves striker came off the bench to grab a vital 82nd minute winner for John Toshack's side in their opening 2010 World Cup qualifier against Azerbaijan.
The 18-year-old is just one of a host of youngsters in the Wales squad at present who have been handed the task of steering their country to a major finals.
The fact that he is yet to make an impact at Molineux following his summer move from Bournemouth epitomises the lack of resources available to Toshack.
Also take into account the fact the talented teenager was born and raised in England and you start to get a greater understanding of what the Dragons have to work with.
Not that they are complaining, as an ambitious, youthful outfit suggests the future could be bright for a country who have failed to grace international showpieces for far too long.
They also provide a shining example of how a lack of options does not have to result in a shortfall of endeavour and fine performances.
England constantly bemoan the lack of talent available to national boss Fabio Capello, but he has a wealth of riches from which to choose when compared to Toshack.
Incredible
Vokes is just one example of a gamble paying dividends, and his manager at international level hopes the striker's size 12 feet can fire Wales all the way to South Africa.
"Sam's feet are incredible," he said
"I remember Bill Shankly querying the size of Tommy Cooper's feet (during his playing days at Liverpool).
"Tommy replied: '13'. Bill said: Tommy, I've sailed to Ireland in boats smaller than that."
